Being stuck in the house can be boring. That is if you don't have anything to do. Luckily that isn't the case for me. I like to do many things when I'm bored. Sometimes I will go on a walk and other times I will read a book. I also love to play the guitar. In total I own 6 distinctively different guitars, which only shows how passionate I am about guitar. One of my favourite things to do when I am bored, other then play guitar, is doing art. I find doing art so relaxing and calming. It is something I can do wherever I am. Since I love doing art, I own a whole ton of art supplies. I like to do many different types of art. In this blog I will be showcasing some of my art pieces.
Sketching:
Sketching is a type of art most people can do. It only requires a pencil and paper. In these drawings I used lots of techniques like cross hatching and shading. I used a series of pencils that ranged from 6B to 3H. I also used a blending tool and kneadable eraser to get certain highlights.
Charcoal:
I have been taking the Art class at Sutherland for three years now. Not only do I love the class, but I specifically love the teacher who runs the class. She has taught and inspired me so much these past couple years. Our most recent assignment was a charcoal rose. I used a grid technique for my original sketch and coloured and shaded it with only charcoal. This was definately a challenge for me since it was my first time using charcoal in a drawing. Unfortunately school was cancelled because of COVID-19 before I could even finish it. I am trying to work on it at home now. This is my unfinished charcoal rose. A couple petals are still not done and it has many water droplets missing.

Painting:
Painting is definately a more calming art. The way the paint brush feels on the canvas is so satisfying. In my art class last year, I learned that I could make any colour only using three base colours; Cyan blue, Magenta, and Yellow. I know it sounds weird but to test it out my teacher had us make a self portrait of our face with only using those three arcylic colours. In the end it actually turned okay. I was able to make my skin tone, my hair, my face highlights, and it looked completley normal. Unfrotunaly I don't have a picture of it to post on my blog. After that I was inspired and tried many more painting using both acrlic and oil paints. These two paintings are with acrylic paints (note: I did use more than three colours to make these paintings).

Cards:
There are many occasations that call for a good card. For example, birthdays, anniversaries, and Mothers Day. Instead of going out and buying a card, I actually make them myself. I love doing this because I get to cutomize cards for special people in my life. It is also a way to share my artwork to my family and friends to enjoy. I use many different mediums of art like watercolour and pencil crayons. I have been doing it for so long that people actually come to me when it's around their birthday to tell me how excited they are to see my card. Most people throw away cards but mine they always keep. These are some of my many different cards.
